I designed this website to organize the build of my big block Mustang project. It started out as posts on a few online forums, but I wanted to have some fun with the whole process and decided a website would be a good way to do it.
Here is a Photoshop of what I'm looking to do. Check out the build page for more info

So why a Mustang? Good question!
I bought my first Mustang in high school, a 79 Cobra turbo 2.3L. I ended up joining a Mustang club and I was hooked on the hobby and the people. From there I've had a 83 GT, 86 GT, 93 LX, 95 GT, 04 GT, and most recently the 86 & 93 coupe. I like the early "four eye" look and will be most likely sticking with the 86 front end and older tail lights.
I decided to "go for broke" and swap in a big block 460 and toploader. Check out the build page for more information on the other specs.
I've always liked the twisties instead of drag racing so that's where I'm headed with this car. I plan on doing HPDE events as well as some auto crossing. A lot of naysayers think a 460 swapped car cant handle the twisties but I disagree. I'd like the car to be a jack of all trades and be able to even run it at our local Rallycross. And maybe even run it a Bonneville salt flats or Pikes Peak (hey I can dream).
I'm also a big fan of off road prerunners. The fabrication and technology that goes into those trucks and buggies is pretty impressive. I'm going to draw on some of their ideas for this project.
I've always liked traditional hot rods and "rat rods" and the raw simple look they have. Sometimes I think I should have just built a hot rod instead of a Mustang, but my good friend Josh had a good point "the Mustang is the hot rod of our generation". This is true and while this project might be scoffed by the Mustang elite, that didn't stop anyone in the 50s or 60s from building cars the way they wanted!
On a last serious note. We all were affected by 911 and one of the stories I followed was that of Pat Tillman. Name one other "star" or professional athlete who gave up fame and fortune to join the military after 911. I thought Pat did what my grandparents generation did after Pearl Harbor, they joined up to do something to protect America! Pat paid the ultimate price while "doing something" about it and I'm going to incorporate his number "40" into the theme.
